The school rounds in Slovakia will take place from 9.12. 2019 to 13.12. 2019. 200 high schools will participate from the whole country. The best students will advance to regional rounds, which will take place from 27.1. to 28.2. 2020. We wish good luck to all the participants!
The school rounds of Economics Olympiad in the Czech Republic start today on 2/12/2019. 380 schools from the Czech Republic will participate. The school rounds are being organized by high schools and they will take place at them too. The students are being tested from different categories of the economy – microeconomy, macroeconomy or the economics history etc. Best students will advance to the regional rounds, which will take place from 27/1/2020 to 14/2/2020. Students will find out the results from school rounds on 19/12/2019!!
Jan Pytela is a recent absolvent of Gymnázium Matyáše Lercha in Brno. He moved to Vienna after graduation, where he will be studying on economic university. Beside economy he is also interested in International relations. He is a volunteer in Association for international questions („AMO”), within this association he organizes Prague student summit. Šimon Pekar comes from Považská Bystrica. He studies at Bilingválné gymnázium Milana Hodžu in Sučany from 2016. Beside Economy he also likes debate competitions and he is a member of school parliament. He likes to read or do sports in his free time. Jakub Kučerák studied at Gymnázium Jura Hronca in Bratislava, where he also successfully completed International Baccalaureate Diploma program (that is two-year long program for high school students finished by an international graduation IB. He started to like economy at the beginning of his high school years, when he participated in debate competitions or in seminars. He thinks that his participation in International Economics Olympiad was an amazing opportunity to train analytical thinking in economic context. How did you like today? The winner of the first international Economics Olympiad final is Jakub Kučerák from Gymnazium Jura Hronca in Slovakia. Czech, Slovak and Hungarian students participated today in the Economics Olympiad contest organised by Institute of Economics Education. There were 15 participants overall, 5 from each country. The participants were tested by oral and written exam. All testing was done in English. The second place belongs to Šimon Pekar, student of Bilingvalne gymnazium Milana Hodzu, third place took Jan Pytela from Gymnazium Matyase Lercha in Brno, Czech Republic. The first International Economics Olympiad will take place on the Tuesday 10/9/2019 Students from Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary will participate in this competition. 5 students from each country will be tested twice – oral exam and written exam. All the testing is going to be done in English. The international Economics Olympiad will be held in the premises of Czech national bank. International Economics Olympiad is an amazing way how to compare students from different countries. We are looking forward to all participants!
